Overview

About Autzen Stadium

Autzen Stadium has been home to the Oregon Ducks since 1967. Its official seating capacity is 54,000, and standing room takes crowds past 60,000; the record is 60,129 against Ohio State in October 2024. Autzen Stadium seating is one continuous bowl of sections numbered 1 to 40: the Oregon sideline is on the open north side, and the taller south side, rebuilt in 2002, holds the Club at Autzen, the press level and the suites. On the Autzen Stadium seating chart, the best views are along either sideline between the 20-yard lines (about 8 to 14 on the north side and 28 to 34 on the south side), ideally 25 to 40 rows up. The south side's upper rows are the only covered seats, and the low, open end zones (1 to 3 and 38 to 40 at the west end, 19 to 23 at the east end) are the cheapest way into a sell-out.

Autzen opened in 1967 as a single seating bowl, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and built into a landfill site to avoid the need for multilevel ramps, and it is famous for noise far beyond its size: a crowd of 59,277 was measured at 127.2 decibels in 2007. A $90 million expansion before the 2002 season added 12,000 seats and 32 luxury boxes on the south side, and a 186 by 66 foot video board arrived in 2020.

Capacity & layout

Autzen Stadium seating capacity and layouts

The Autzen Stadium seating capacity is about 54,000 seats. The number in use changes with the layout, so here is how each set-up works.

College football (Oregon Ducks)

Official capacity is 54,000, with standing room pushing crowds past 60,000. The field runs east to west. Oregon's sideline and the Charter Box are on the north side; the visitors, the Club at Autzen and the press level are on the south side.

Concerts

Autzen hosts occasional stadium concerts, including Garth Brooks in 2019 and Zach Bryan in July 2026. The field is sold as floor tickets, and for recent shows floor ticket holders entered through the East Gate. Stage position and capacity depend on the production.

Sections

Seating levels explained

North side (Oregon sideline)4-18

The original north stand, where Oregon's bench sits. It is a single, uncovered tier of numbered rows running up to about row 66, with standing room and the Charter Box at the top above sections 9 to 13.

Pros: Faces the Oregon bench action from behind; the loudest, most traditional part of the bowl; midfield sections 10 to 12 are among the best views in the stadium.

Cons: No roof, so you are fully exposed to sun and rain; high rows are a long climb.

South side (visitor sideline)24-38

The taller side of the stadium, expanded in 2002 with 12,000 seats and 32 luxury boxes. Rows climb into the 90s, the Club at Autzen sits above the concourse between the 10-yard lines, and the press level and suites crown the stand.

Pros: The only covered seats in the stadium are in the upper rows here; chair-backed premium options; looks across at the Oregon bench.

Cons: Visitors' bench side; the highest rows are a long way from the field.

West end zone39-40, 1-3

The low, open end zone where the bowl's numbering starts and finishes. Oregon's student seating has included the top of section 2.

Pros: Usually some of the cheapest tickets; the lowest rows are very close to the field.

Cons: Plays at the far end are hard to judge from low rows; uncovered.

East end zone19-23

The opposite end zone, between the north and south stands.

Pros: Low prices and close to scoring plays at your end.

Cons: End on view of the whole field; uncovered.

Seat views

Autzen Stadium view from your seat

North side midfield (Oregon side)

8 to 14 (Oregon bench in front of 10 to 12)

A classic sideline view from the home side, looking across the field at the south stand. The rows are numbered from 1 at the field, and the view improves noticeably from about row 25 upwards.

Tip: Rows 25 to 40 are the sweet spot: high enough to read the play, close enough to feel the noise.

North side corners

4 to 7 and 15 to 18

Angled views towards midfield from the ends of the north stand. Sections 7 and 8 have been part of Oregon's student section, so expect to stand all game there.

Tip: If you want to sit down, avoid the student sections on the north-west side.

South side lower sections

24 to 38 (visitor bench in front of 30 to 32)

Sideline seats on the south side, looking at the Oregon bench, with Sideline Preferred chair-backed seats in the lower parts of 30 to 32.

Tip: The south side main concourse gives these seats the widest choice of food, shops and restrooms.

South side upper rows and the Club at Autzen

28 to 34, upper rows

Raised sideline views from the 2002 expansion, with the Club at Autzen between the 10-yard lines. The highest rows sit under the roof of the south stand, the only cover in the stadium.

Tip: If rain is forecast, buy the upper rows of 28 to 34.

West end zone

38 to 40 and 1 to 3

End on seats looking straight down the field. The lowest rows are right on top of the end zone, while the higher rows give a better look at play as it develops.

Tip: Section 1 starts at row 9, so even its front rows sit a little above field level.

East end zone

19 to 23

The same end on view from the east end. Scoring plays at your end are close; the far end zone is a long way off.

Tip: Good for a budget ticket, but pick a middle or high row for a full view of the field.

Seat numbers

How Autzen Stadium seat numbers work

Autzen has one bowl of sections numbered 1 to 40 in a continuous loop: section 1 is in the west end zone, the numbers run east along the north side (Oregon's sideline, with midfield around 10 to 12), round the east end zone (19 to 23), back west along the south side (visitors' sideline, midfield around 30 to 32) and finish at 40 beside section 1. There are no level prefixes, so a section number alone tells you where you are round the bowl. Rows are numbered from 1 at the field upwards; north side sections run to about row 66 and the taller south side sections climb into the 90s.

Reading a ticket: Section 11, Row 30: north side at about the 50-yard line on the Oregon side, 30 rows up from the field, a good height for following the whole game in the open air.

Concerts

Autzen Stadium floor plan for concerts

Autzen hosts occasional stadium concerts. The layout is set by each tour, so always check the seat map for your show.

The floor: The field becomes the floor. For recent shows, floor ticket holders were told to enter through the East Gate (the East Tunnel for Garth Brooks in 2019).

Seats in the bowl keep their football section and row numbers. Sections behind or beside the stage may be closed or sold as limited view.

Recommendations

Best seats at Autzen Stadium

Best overall

8-14 (north) and 28-34 (south), rows 25-40

Sideline views between the 20-yard lines, high enough to see the whole field and close enough to feel Autzen's famous noise.

Best atmosphere

North side, especially near the student sections (7 and 8)

The Oregon side, next to the students, has the most atmosphere in a famously loud stadium; expect to stand throughout.

Best in bad weather

Upper rows of 28-34 (south side)

The south stand's roof covers its highest rows, the only covered seats in the stadium.

Best premium experience

Club at Autzen (south side between the 10-yard lines) or the Charter Box (north side above 9-13)

Chair backs, club room access, food and drink service and elevator access.

Best budget seats

End zones: 38-40 and 1-3 (west), 19-23 (east)

Usually the cheapest tickets, with low rows very close to the field.

Heads up

Seats to avoid & obstructed views

Lowest rows of the end zones: The flat angle makes play at the far end of the field hard to follow.

Highest rows of the south side sideline: A long climb and a long way from the field, even though these rows are covered.

North side in hot weather or rain: There is no roof over the north stand, so you are fully exposed to the weather.

Student sections (7, 8 and the top of 2): Great atmosphere, but everyone stands all game.

Access

Accessibility & companion seating

Autzen has accessible seating areas for wheelchair users and a companion. To check availability or book, call the Oregon Athletic Ticket Office on 1-800-WEBFOOT or visit the ticket office in the Casanova Center. An elevator inside the South Gate runs from the lower concourse to the main concourse, and a tram carries disabled and senior guests from the lower concourse into the stadium. Accessible parking is sold on game day through Entry 5 off Leo Harris Parkway, first come, first served, and needs a DMV-issued placard with proof of ownership; when that lot is full, the ADA-compliant shuttle system is the next option.

Where: Oregon does not publish a list of accessible sections. Ask the ticket office for the current wheelchair and companion locations when you book. Oregon asks season ticket holders to use wheelchair-accessible seats only for guests who need them.
