Where to sit at Soldier Field
The best seats at Soldier Field are 128-146 (west, Bears side) and 101-117 (east), 100 Level sidelines for the view. For value, choose 330-344 (300 Level, upper west sideline). For atmosphere, head to Lower end-zone and corner sections of the 100 Level near the home Bears bench, plus the 400 Level Upper West. Avoid Seats beside and behind a north-end stage for concerts (north end 146-155 and nearby sections). Soldier Field seats 61,500, home of Chicago Bears.

Lower-sideline sections between the 20-yard lines give the closest, most balanced head-on view of play with excellent atmosphere; the 50-yard-line front rows are unusually close to the field.

Full detailAbout Soldier Field
Soldier Field is the lakefront home of the NFL's Chicago Bears and the smallest stadium in the league, seating approximately 61,500 for football following its 2003 interior rebuild behind the preserved historic colonnades. Seating is arranged over four tiers: the 100 Level (lower bowl), the 200 Level (mid-tier, including the premium United Club on the east side), the 300 Level (upper bowl) and the steep 400 Level (Upper West) above the west sideline. The best overall views are from the lower sideline sections between the 20-yard lines (west 128-146, east 101-117), while the best value tends to be the 300 Level west sideline (330-344), which offers honest, head-on sightlines at a fraction of lower-bowl prices. For concerts staged at the north end, the south end zone sections facing the stage head-on (119-126) and premium field packages are the most sought-after, while the 400 Level Upper West gives some of the most distant views.
Originally opened in 1924 with its landmark Doric colonnades, Soldier Field was radically rebuilt in 2003 when a modern glass-and-steel seating bowl was inserted within the historic columns, a controversial contrast that cost it National Historic Landmark status. It is the oldest and smallest-capacity NFL stadium, open-air and seating about 61,500.

Soldier Field seating capacity and layouts
The Soldier Field seating capacity is about 61,500 seats. The number in use changes with the layout, so here is how each set-up works.
NFL football (Chicago Bears)
The stadium's primary use. Full bowl configuration of approximately 61,500 seats across the 100, 200, 300 and 400 (Upper West) levels. The Bears defend an end zone and play with the field running roughly north-south; the United Club premium areas sit on the east sideline.
Concerts (end-stage)
Major stadium tours typically place the stage at the north end with a general-admission and reserved-seat field on the playing surface. Sideline sections facing the stage head-on offer the best reserved views; sections beside and behind the stage have restricted or no view. Capacity varies by stage and production size.
Soccer / football matches
Soldier Field has hosted club and international football, including past Chicago Fire FC fixtures and major tournament and friendly matches. The pitch fills the central field area, with a near-full lower and upper bowl available depending on demand.
Seating levels explained
100 Level (Lower Bowl)101-155
The ground tier wrapping the field, with sideline sections along the east and west and end-zone sections at the south. Front-row 50-yard-line seats sit unusually close to the action, among the shortest sideline distances in the NFL.
Pros: Closest to the field; strong sideline sightlines; best atmosphere and player detail.
Cons: Most expensive tier; low rows in the corners and end zones can have a flatter, partially side-on view of distant play.
200 Level (Club / Mid-tier)202-256
The middle tier offering elevated sightlines without the height of the upper bowl. The east-side sections (202-216) form part of the premium United Club with indoor lounge access; most 200-level sections have roughly 19-27 rows.
Pros: Excellent elevated sideline views; east-side sections include climate-controlled United Club amenities; good balance of height and proximity.
Cons: United Club sections carry a significant premium; end and corner sections angle away from midfield.
300 Level (Upper Bowl)301-356
The upper bowl rings the sidelines and corners above the 200 level. East-side sections 301-317 are part of the United Club; the west upper sideline (330-344) is widely regarded as the best-value seating in the stadium. A lakeside patio with drink rails sits above section 354.
Pros: Comprehensive, head-on views of the whole field; west-side sections offer strong value; some sections enjoy skyline and lake glimpses.
Cons: Noticeably further from the action; the lakeside patio area can be very windy; higher rows involve a long climb.
400 Level (Upper West)427-447
The steep top tier on the west side, labelled Upper West on the official stadium diagram, with the 50-yard line at section 437. Rows run from 1 up to about row 37 depending on section.
Pros: Typically the cheapest seats in the building; a true end-on view down the length of the field.
Cons: Very steep with many steps to the top; the highest seats in the stadium and open to lakefront wind; for concerts it gives some of the most distant views of the stage.
Soldier Field view from your seat
100 Level west sideline (Bears side)
128 to 146 (50 yard line at 136 and 138)Low, close sideline seats on the home side, with no cover overhead. The tall west stands put this side in shade first as the afternoon goes on.
Tip: For the 50 yard line on the Bears side, look at sections 136 and 138.
100 Level east sideline (visitor side)
101 to 117 (50 yard line at 108 and 110)The same close sideline view, looking across at the Bears bench. In sections 104 to 114, the higher rows sit under the 200 Level overhang.
Tip: Sit around row 12 or higher in 104 to 114 if you want cover from rain or sun.
100 Level end zones
North 146 to 155, south 119 to 126You look straight down the field, close to scoring plays at your end with a long view of the far end. The end zone sections are short, with fewer than 20 rows.
Tip: Row 1 of the south end zone is sold as Touchdown Club Seats, which include United Club access.
200 Level Media Deck, west side
West side 200 Level (50 yard line at 237)Short rows on the Bears side, just above the lower bowl. The 300 Level overhead makes this the best covered area in the stadium.
Tip: A good pick for a hot afternoon or a wet day.
United Club, east side
202 to 216 and 301 to 317 (50 yard line at 209 and 309)Raised sideline seats on the visitor side with access to the indoor United Club. The back rows of the 200 Level are covered, which can trim the top of the view.
Tip: For the best sightline with some height, choose the front rows of the 300 Level club sections.
300 Level west sideline
330 to 344 (50 yard line at 336 and 338)This tier sits well above the Media Deck and reaches almost over it, giving a clean, raised midfield view.
Tip: The lower rows of 336 to 338 give the best angle here.
400 Level Upper West
427 to 447 (50 yard line at 437)The highest seats in the stadium, a steep tier on the west side. It gives a full view of the field from high on the Bears side, but it is open to lakefront wind and weather.
Tip: You enter at row 1 and climb, so lower rows save you a long walk back to the concourse.
End zone upper levels
North 248 to 256 and 348 to 356, south 218 to 226 and 318 to 326A raised view along the length of the field and the best view of the video boards. Many seats need a stair climb, and the south end sections are smaller and fewer.
How Soldier Field seat numbers work
On the official stadium diagram, each level runs clockwise. The 100 Level starts at 101 in the north east corner, runs down the east side to 117, across the south end (119 to 126), up the west side (128 to 146) and across the north end (148 to 155). The 200 Level (202 to 256) and 300 Level (301 to 356) follow the same pattern. The 400 Level (427 to 447) is only on the west side and is labelled Upper West. The last two digits roughly line up between levels, so 136, 237, 336 and 437 are all at the west 50 yard line. Rows are numbered from 1 at the front, and a few sections have a Row A in front of row 1.
Reading a ticket: Section 437, Row 20: 400 Level Upper West, at the 50 yard line on the Bears side. You enter at row 1 and climb, so Row 20 is well up the tier.
Soldier Field floor plan for concerts
Concert layouts vary by tour, so always check the seating map for your show. On most end stage layouts the stage goes at the north end, with seats on the field and the south end and both sidelines facing it.
The floor: The field is sold as field or floor seating, either general admission or reserved sections depending on the show. Floor row numbers are for ticketing only and do not show a fixed spot relative to the stage.
The stage: Usually at the north end, in front of 100 Level sections 146 to 155.
The south end zone (119 to 126, with 122 dead centre) faces a north end stage head on, and the east and west sidelines give a side view. The 400 Level Upper West is on the west side, not behind the stage, but it has some of the most distant views.

Seats to avoid & obstructed views
Seats beside and behind a north-end stage for concerts (north end 146-155 and nearby sections): Directly behind or beside the stage, these seats have a heavily restricted or non-existent view of the performance and face the back of the production.
Highest rows of the 400 Level Upper West (up to ~row 37): Steepest pitch in the stadium with a long climb, the greatest distance from the action and exposure to lakefront wind.
Low rows of the 100 Level corner and end-zone sections: A flat angle so far-side play looks distant and side-on, and surrounding players or sideline staff can intermittently block low sightlines.
Lakeside patio / upper sections around 354: Open lakefront position means the area can get incredibly windy and cold in late-season games.
Sections immediately beside an end stage during concerts: A sharp side-stage angle that distorts the view and can leave parts of the staging or video screens obscured.
Accessibility & companion seating
Soldier Field is fully ADA accessible, offering wheelchair-accessible and companion seating for all ticketed events, with more than 50 wheelchair spaces spread across a range of locations and price points. Each wheelchair space is paired with a conventional companion seat. All in-stadium elevators are accessible, every restroom is ADA accessible, and wheelchair ushering/escort service is available inside the stadium and across part of the exterior campus. The ADA drop-off and pick-up point is the Gate 14 turnaround off Museum Campus Drive on the south-east (lakeside) corner.
Where: Accessible seating rows are located at the top of most sections throughout the venue across all levels, giving wheelchair users and companions a choice of price ranges. Accessible tickets are sold per event through the box office and Ticketmaster; if accessible inventory is sold out, buy conventional seats and contact the ADA Coordinator on 312-235-7000 to arrange an accessible exchange.
Food & drink at Soldier Field
Soldier Field's concessions, run by Chicago-based Levy Restaurants, deliberately read like a tour of the city: Italian beef from Mr. Beef, Sicilian-style slices from Connie's Pizza and Vienna Beef hot dogs all feature at Bears games. Recent menus have added player- and fan-inspired items alongside the classics.
Soldier Field is a cashless venue. Alcohol is sold at designated stands only; at Bears games sales in the general bowl end after the third quarter, and at Chicago Fire matches they stop at the 75th minute.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best seats at Soldier Field?
For Bears games, the best overall seats are in the 100 Level lower sideline sections between the 20-yard lines (west 128-146 on the Bears side, east 101-117), where you get the closest head-on view and strong atmosphere. The premium east-side United Club sections (202-216 and 301-317) add an indoor lounge and amenities.
Where are the cheapest seats at Soldier Field?
The cheapest seats are generally in the 400 Level Upper West (sections 427-447), the steep top tier on the west side. For the best value with a closer sideline view, the upper west sideline of the 300 Level (330-344) is the smart pick.
Where do away fans sit at Soldier Field?
NFL stadiums including Soldier Field do not have a dedicated away-fan section; visiting supporters are seated throughout the venue. Visiting fans often cluster in cheaper upper-level and end-zone areas, but there is no official segregated away end.
What are the best seats for a concert at Soldier Field?
For end-stage concerts staged at the north end, the south end zone sections facing the stage head-on (119-126, with 122 dead centre) give the straightest reserved view, while field/floor packages nearest the stage put you closest to the performance. The 400 Level Upper West is on the west side rather than behind the stage, but it has some of the most distant views.
Is Soldier Field accessible for wheelchair users?
Yes. Soldier Field offers wheelchair and companion seating for all events, with 50+ wheelchair spaces at varied locations and prices, accessible rows at the top of most sections, accessible elevators and restrooms throughout, and wheelchair escort service. Accessible tickets are sold via the box office and Ticketmaster, or arrange an exchange via the ADA Coordinator on 312-235-7000.
Does Soldier Field have a roof, and are seats covered?
No, Soldier Field is an open-air stadium with no roof, so the seating bowl is largely uncovered and exposed to lakefront weather. Late-season Bears games can be cold and windy, particularly in the upper levels and the open north grandstand; dress for the conditions.
What is the United Club at Soldier Field?
The United Club is the stadium's premier hospitality area on the east side, covering 200 Level sections 202-216 and 300 Level sections 301-317. Ticket holders get access to a three-level climate-controlled indoor lounge with multiple bars, concierge service, wide cushioned seats and many TVs.
