A Sprint Saturday means more racing for your money — three competitive sessions across the weekend.
Full detailMelbourne’s Albert Park hosts Round 3 of 2027 — and for the first time, the Australian Grand Prix is a Sprint weekend, adding competitive running on Saturday to one of the best-attended races on the calendar. Home hero interest keeps demand enormous: grandstands for recent editions sold out within hours.
Albert Park is a 5.278 km temporary circuit around the lake of the same name, mixing fast flowing corners with four DRS zones. Upgrades in recent years removed the old chicane and quickened the back half of the lap, and the race has produced heavy first-lap action at Turns 1 and 3 ever since. The city-centre setting, five kilometres from the CBD, makes it one of the easiest F1 races in the world to attend.
We'll add a verified map for the Australian Grand Prix when it becomes available. Grandstand and entrance locations may change for 2027.

Albert Park offers a roaming Park Pass or a reserved grandstand. The 2027 event adds Sprint racing, so decide which days merit a fixed seat and which you would spend exploring the precinct.
Access public viewing areas, fan activities and support categories without a reserved seat.
Consider: The best viewing positions fill early and the lakeside venue requires long walks.
Reserved stands around the opening-corner action.
Consider: Check the current seat block, screen and gate; the view changes across the stand.
A reserved base for grid, pit-straight and race-start atmosphere.
Consider: Compare the cost with a corner seat if overtaking matters more to you.
The promoter distinguishes Park Pass, reserved stands and hospitality with dining and dedicated viewing. Some covered seats are also sold in selected grandstands, which may meet a comfort need without a lounge.
Premium food and beverage and an exclusive viewing area, varying by venue.
Consider: Confirm the precise terrace or suite, stand access, event days and meal service.
A reserved, covered grandstand position in selected stands.
Consider: Food and drink are generally separate; check cover and row on the 2027 seat map.
Albert Park is integrated with Melbourne’s tram and train network. Choose the rail or tram stop for the gate on your 2027 ticket, then allow for crowds leaving the race.
Event services have served the circuit from Flinders Street, Southern Cross and Flagstaff.
Consider: Match the tram route and stop to your gate; services and fare conditions can change.
The newer Anzac Station provides an approach to the eastern side of the park, while CBD stations connect to trams.
Consider: Check the 2027 event access map and the full walking route before selecting a hotel.
A city stay within reach of a gate can avoid a post-race vehicle queue.
Consider: Albert Park is large; the closest edge may be far from your allocated stand.
The Australian Grand Prix promoter states there is no public parking at the circuit. Use public transport, walk from a suitable hotel, or arrange an accessible parking option directly with the organiser where eligible. Do not budget for an ordinary on-site parking pass.
Hotel location should follow your chosen gate and the post-race journey, not just distance to the lake.
Broad room and dinner choice with rail and event tram connections.
Consider: Allow for a crowded return and match the stop to your gate.
Potentially shorter walk to some circuit gates.
Consider: Confirm the actual pedestrian entrance and stand-to-gate route.
Beachside evenings and access to the southern side of Albert Park.
Consider: A longer approach to stands on the far side of the lake.
Price Park Pass, reserved seat and hospitality on the same attendance days. A no-parking venue shifts the transport budget to trams, trains or a walkable hotel.
Supplier prices and event transport can change. Any previous-season figure is labelled with its year; check the final cart before paying.
The event has precinct food outlets, and promoter hospitality packages include food and beverage under their own terms; use the current circuit map to locate your options.
South Melbourne or Southbank works after a north/west gate exit; St Kilda suits a southern exit. Book a restaurant near the gate you actually use and leave time for the crowd to clear.
Visitor details reviewed 2026-09-27. Check the organiser again when the 2027 event instructions are released.
Stay in the CBD, Southbank or St Kilda. The CBD and Southbank put you on the free tram corridor; St Kilda is walking distance to the southern gates and has the beach. Melbourne’s hotel stock is deep, but Grand Prix weekend is the city’s biggest event of the year — prices roughly double, and the best locations sell out months ahead.

Albert Park is 5 km south of Melbourne’s CBD. Free trams for ticket holders run from the city to the circuit gates on race weekend, and the light rail and tram network covers the rest. Driving is actively discouraged — road closures ring the park all week. From Melbourne Airport, allow 40–60 minutes to the city, then tram.
