Overview

About Stade de France

The Stade de France holds around 80,000 and is the national stadium for both football and rugby, hosting France’s home internationals, the Coupe de France final, the Top 14 rugby final and major concerts. Its retractable lower tier converts the bowl from a close football/rugby configuration to an athletics arena with a track, as used at the 2024 Olympics. The stands are lettered around the ring, with the main sides holding premium seats and the ends behind the goals or posts generating the loudest support. The floating roof covers every seat, and central side seats give the best all-round view.

France’s national stadium, opened for the 1998 World Cup, is an elegant elliptical bowl crowned by a vast, translucent floating roof suspended on outer masts. The lower tier of seats retracts to reveal an athletics track for meetings and the Olympics, then rolls back close to the pitch for football and rugby.
